Creating your own recipes
In can be a lot of fun creating your own recipes! Getting creative in the kitchen is a lot of fun once you get the hang of it! If it is your first time attempting to create your own recipe it is best to begin with a favorite recipe that you have made before and enjoy. Once you have the recipe in front of you, do a little brain storming. What additional flavors do you think that you could incorporate to the dish? Has anyone that you know ever recommended that something be added to the dish, or made comments such as "This would be really good if it had..."? Or perhaps you or someone else has thought there was a bit too much of an ingredient?
If so, this is a great jumping point. Once you have thought of ways to tweak the recipe, either by adding or subtracting ingredients, you will need to figure out how much to add or subtract. Start with small amounts, and taste the dish. If you are adding an ingredient, you do not want to over season, as there is no way to undo this. You can always add more of something later if you feel it is necessary. Add only one ingredient at a time, because it is not uncommon that you may find you've created the perfect blend even before adding something that you were considering.
Once you finish the recipe, if you enjoyed it, be sure to keep a copy for your own records. You can title the dish however you like because now that you have altered the recipe, it is all yours! Enjoy!
